HALCYON LODGE

Southampton, NY

Once a ghost of a house on the Southampton dunes, Halcyon Lodge—the former estate of Henry Ford II—had lost its way under decades of awkward glass-box additions and neglect. The late 19th-century Queen Anne was brought back to life by opening it to sweeping views of the Atlantic and restoring its original grace. Outdoor terraces and covered porches encourage living outside, while stenciled walls and floors bring a touch of whimsy indoors. A triple-height stair hall, strung with a hand-blown glass bead “necklace,” winds its way to the third floor, where the views get even better.
