Just a few years after completing the renovation of a four bedroom apartment, the client returned with the task of combining it with the apartment directly below. A sculptural, winding staircase was introduced in the existing wood paneled Library, extending the paneling down to create a monumental double-height space with treetop views of Central Park. Steel-framed glass partitions create intimacy without sacrificing light or views.
